Although only 6009 were produced, this was more than enough to strike tremendous fear into every Allied soldier of every Allied nation. The Panther Tanks served on every front and fought like knights for Germany. By late 1944, two out of every three battalions of each Panzer Division were fully equipped with Panthers. During the Normandy campaign of the summer of 1944, over half the German panzers were Panthers. And, during the great Ardennes counter offensive of December 1944-January 1945, almost two-thirds of all German tanks deployed were Panthers. In short, the Panther Tank was the work horse of work horses of the German Army during the latter half of the Second World War.
